The New Masjid Project
Every Friday, our prayer space fills beyond capacity. Our children study Qur’an in borrowed rooms. Our sisters need dedicated space, our elders need accessibility, and our youth need a place that feels like theirs.
For over two decades, the Guinean Muslim community has grown in Columbus — in families, in faith, and in service. A purpose-built masjid is the natural next chapter: a permanent home that gathers everything we do under one roof.
The new masjid is designed to serve every generation — a sanctuary of prayer at its heart, surrounded by spaces for learning, gathering, and growing.

A spacious prayer hall for daily salah, Jumu’ah, Ramadan, and Eid — with dedicated space for sisters and accessible design for elders.
A school of knowledge
Classrooms for Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic studies — weekend school for children and lifelong learning for adults.
A home for community
Halls for weddings and janazahs, youth rooms, a kitchen for iftars, and space to welcome our Columbus neighbors.

A community gathers
Guinean families in Columbus begin praying together in rented rooms and living rooms.
2012
A place of our own
The community establishes its first dedicated prayer space and weekend Qur’an school.
2024
The vision takes shape
Land search begins and the New Masjid Project is formally launched with community support.
2027
Breaking ground, insha’Allah
With fundraising complete, construction begins on a purpose-built home for generations.
Architectural Concept
The concept draws on Islamic architectural tradition — graceful arches, geometric patterns, natural stone and wood, and soft, generous light — expressed in a calm, contemporary form that will age beautifully in its Columbus setting. Final renderings will be shared with the community as the design develops.
